New Moon on Monday: 15° Aquarius

It's always a good day when you have a legitimate excuse to post a Duran Duran video! Happy New Moon on Monday my friends! The moon is reborn today at 4:04pm at 15 degrees in the second 10 degree section or decan of Saturn-ruled Aquarius.

Aquarius II is co-ruled by Mercury and syncretized with the VI of Swords in the Rider-Waite Tarot,  depicting a mother and child being ferried across a body of water perhaps leaving the past behind. Are they going towards something or leaving something behind?

A sign of exile in traditional astrology, Aquarius II attempts to reconnect the outcast with some sort of oasis, a respite from the challenging circumstances that befall an erstwhile vagabond. This particular new moon comes on the heels of the Chinese new year and introduces the year of the Earth Pig into our collective consciousness. An animal traditionally associated with sacrifice, a pig year asks you to consider the worthiness of a particular sacrifice before committing to it "whole hog", so to speak.

Today's Feb. 4th lunation is also receiving a supportive applying sextile from two domicile planets shining from the power of their own temples, Jupiter in Sagittarius and Mars in Aries, allowing both to bestow their gifts of optimism and action in their purest form.

What are you moving towards today? What are you leaving behind? What oasis awaits you if you find the courage to cross the waters of the unknown and embrace a distant shore?

Perhaps Duran Duran has the answer...
