Staying busy this winter with a few upcoming shows and a selection of class offerings that I am teaching. First off, here are my upcoming performances, including my first time at Ann Arbor's Old Town Tavern!

In addition to my performances,  I will also be teaching a number of classes in the Washtenaw region including Songwriting, Beginning Guitar & R-E-S-P-E-C-T! The History of Rock N' Roll. Registration is open for all three classes and can be done here:

MUS 146: Songwriting 
Washtenaw Community College
Mon. 2-5pm 1/11- 5/2

For the prospective song writer, this class is designed to enhance the various phases of songwriting: observation, lyric writing, musical accompaniment and collaboration skills. Students collaborate using their talents to produce songs and also become acquainted with musical styles through recordings and demonstrations. Students will be expected to write or collaborate with others to write a song at least twice in the semester. The title of this course was previously Songwriting and Creative Improvisation.

Beginning Guitar
Ann Arbor Rec & Ed
Mon. 6-7pm 1/25 - 3/21 

Grade 9-Adult. BEGINNING Calling all aspiring guitarists. Whether you are a future rock god, jazz cat or campfire strummer, basic fundamentals and a strong foundation in technique is essential. Gain the beginning skills you need to launch your musical dream. Learn chord shapes, strumming patterns and basic music theory that can be applied to almost any style of music. Bring your own guitar. Instructor: Spencer Michaud is an experienced songwriter, performer and teacher. 8 weeks.

Mon. 7:15-8:15pm 1/25 - 3/21

Are you a musician or music lover who wants to learn more about what has influenced you? Trace the development of rock and roll and 20th century American and British popular music from its early blues roots to modern hip-hop. Explore the evolution of musical genres and the social contexts in which they were born. Open to musicians and non-musicians alike. Instructor: Spencer Michaud is an experienced songwriter, performer and teacher. 8 weeks. No class 2/15.
